MAKING A MOSAIC OUT OF SCRAPS

CLICK SMALLER IMAGES TO SEE FULL PAGE SAMPLES

I saw this on DIY and just loved it.   First you take 4 different colored papers (scraps work perfect).  Cut the papers into strips of varying widths. Then cut the strips into pieces at varying angles.  (Imagine the pieces of a real mosaic, they are all different shapes, but fit together).

Once all cut, start to place the pieces on a 6X9” sheet of adhesive.  Leave about the same amount of space between each piece (about ¼” or less, enough to see well).   After the whole sheet of adhesive is covered, pour your choice of embossing powder in all the spaces between the pieces.

Move the powder around and press to make sure all remaining surface of adhesive is covered.  Shake off any excess powder.   Heat to set the powder.   You can either place your photo ON this mosaic mat or cut out a place to frame your photo.   WOW!
